Day 3 – My nephew Khang

Day 3 of my portrait a day challenge.
The difficulty with drawing my nephew Khang is he looks like an adult yet he’s only 14!

I spent quite a long time on this as I found it difficult getting the likeness right with such a small drawing, on grainy paper. The hand hes leaning on is obstructed in the image I was working from… I think I’m going to continue working on this one.

Day 2 – Veng

The 2nd portrait of my portrait a day project. Thank you to my good friend Veng for posing for me.  I shot this photo originally in really low light without a tripod.. so I had to really increase the exposure in Photoshop.  Not a great photo..  but as it stands was a good enough shot for a small oil sketch.

I’m going to have to take another photo of you Veng! I want to elaborate on this oil sketch and turn it into a bigger painting.

I had a lot of fun with this one and I’m looking forward to the next one tomorrow!

Happy New Year!

Kicking off 2014 with a personal challenge. A portrait a day in the month of January of anyone willing to either sit for me or allow me to take a photo of them.

A few family members have already jumped on board with my grand scheme. San and a few other nephews came back to studio for a photo shoot, he’s looking pretty bored here which is the exact expression I’m trying to capture! Thanks San!

If there’s any friends and family out there that wants a free portrait contact me because there’s only 31 days in the month of January! Keep posted for more portraits to come!

I bought equipment a couple of months ago to make frames but i just recently found the time to make some.  Turned out better than I hoped.

Thanks to Wes’s router,  I can make my own designs which means i don’t have to source preexisting designs from a framing wholesaler.  Anyone interested in frames?

New look for my Studio!

S o i had this bright idea to take most items off the floor of my studio and have them sitting on floating shelves.  Now i have so much space… i think i may just have enough space to host life drawing sessions in here.

Drapery study

I was cleaning my studio and I found an old drapery study.. I don’t churn out many of these but I’m starting to think i should do a whole lot more.

My trip to Brisbane

Hey everyone, a couple of weeks ago I returned home from a trip to Brisbane and I have to say that it was a very eventful trip. My good friend Haruyo was my traveling buddy for a week and I must say she was awesome to be with, we shared lots of happy moments I’ll remember forever.  I also caught up with a good friend Nicholas Leavey, who really has done an amazing job fitting out his school with Scott Breton and Ryan Daffurn.  Had random encounter bumping into Micheal K Chin and his wife Penny in the street which was bloody awesome.  Most importantly I did some drawing and painting  which is my main reason for this post.  I hope you had a chance to view these update of my activities!

Hey everyone!

Hello

Welcome to my website created by the wonderful web designers Kinski & Bourke with the support of Pop-Up Parramatta.  I’m so grateful for their support and encouragement to showcase my work online.  I couldn’t have done it without them.

Most of the work showcased here will be part of my upcoming exhibition yet to be announced.  Some drawings are works created back when I was a student at the Julian Ashton’s art school.  Be sure to look through the whole gallery as well as check out the links to my facebook, instagram and twitter at the bottom of the page.  Thank you!
